Koru 2

[..."-You might go East so far that East became West and you returned to Britain across the great Ocean, but even so you would not have come out anywhere into the light. The shadow of one dark wing is over all Tellus.

-Is this, then, the end? asked Merlin."

C.S. Lewis, That Hideous Strength]

- I've been stung by a bee!

- Wow, did it hurt? What did you do, dearest?

Lysa was proudly seated on a wooden chair, her eyes bright with the joy of being admired. She'd been brave.

- Will you eat that piece of fruit or not? Eat it, Daniel, take it now!

- But I'm not hungry anymore...

And I reluctantly swallowed the red, mellow flesh of what was handed to me. I somehow noticed that I was a kid again, but it didn't trouble me at all. My mother's face turned into a clown's, and everything went dark.

- Eat your soup!

We were falling together into darkness; I was tied to my high chair and the colourful clown was clinging to it, his hand forcing into my mouth a spoonful of greenish soup with bright yellow sweet peas floating in it. And as the soup went down in my stomach and filled my whole body, my head started hurting as never before, and my eyes pressed against their sockets in a crazy, merciless way. I wanted to scream, but my mouth was filled with soup. The hysterical laugh of the clown echoed in the darkness, and I started vomiting flows of soup and blood, through my mouth and through my nose, until I was out of breath. There was no air left in the darkness, and my whole body ached for the lack of air and for the pain of the regurgitation. The sweet peas hurt so much as they popped streaming out my nose. My skin was sweating blood, my eyes were crushed out, and I couldn't scream, I couldn't breathe, and when I woke up in a pool of sweat, I had to run for the bathroom.
