Sometimes I find that text makes you see and feel things more accurately than pictures, because I make you see it through my eyes and mind, my heart and soul, and through the stardust we're all made of. Sometimes I find that pictures lose the magic of the moment, and that only the magic of words can work to bring it back. Do you?
there is something to be said for both pictures and words...photographs can instantly capture the tangible visual reality of a moment...but it leaves out sounds, smells, sensations, the physical sensation of BEING in that place at that time. that really is the magic of language...being able to express your own reality, as you remember it. The other beautiful thing about words is that they allow you to see someone else's memory in your own mind's eye, as it looks to you. And so, everyone is left with slightly different pictures of the same story or memory rather than one flat, objective image. That is why it's possible to lose yourself in a book...as the author brought a world to life, you bring it to life once more, in your own mind's eye. It's true that there is an accuracy, or perhaps a truth, in language not to be found in pictures...an interesting thought, and one you illustrate beautifully in your entries.
